Eat ice cream to help the homeless parrots – Saturday 9/03

On Saturday, September 3, 2011, from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Ben and Jerry’s Scoopshop will sponsor, “Parrot Education and Adoption Center Benefit Day“.  They will donate 20% of their sales, except for gift cards, to the Pittsburgh affiliate of the Parrot Education and Adoption Center.

The Parrot Education and Adoption Center (PEAC) was founded in San Diego, Ca in 1996 and has affiliates in several states, including in Pittsburgh, PA since 1998.  The Pittsburgh affiliate is run entirely by volunteers.  PEAC endeavors to promote the highest quality of education on the keeping of companion, parrot type birds and also facilitates the rehoming of parrots who have lost their homes, into appropriate new homes where they will receive proper care.

The Pittsburgh affiliate of PEAC thanks Life’sWork of Western Pennsylvania, the operator of Ben and Jerry’s Scoopshop and The Bagel Factory in Squirrel Hill.  Life’sWork of Western Pennsylvania has been helping people with barriers to gainful employment, come into the workforce, since 1927.
